About this deal

TK800M’s aluminum driver diaphragm performs the pure vocals and delicate details in mid- and high frequencies. The BenQ TK800M strikes a beautiful balance between practicality and capabilities. This model is considerably cheaper than laser projectors, but its performance in 4K HDR movies or games is comparable up to a certain degree. The winning factor in this product is its very high brightness threshold which boosts contrasts and vibrancy compared to what a typical projector can do. What what you’re more likely to notice is the fan noise which, when combined with the sound of the colour wheel whizzing around, can get quite loud. There’s no way around this: the brighter the bulb, the more heat it produces, and the more cooling is required.

The BenQ TK850 3000-lumen projector produces UHD pictures at resolutions of up to 3840 x 2160 pixels. This projector supports HDR10, providing incredibly bright, colorful content. The device has a dynamic Iris and enhanced contrast, making it a good choice for home theaters. This device is factory calibrated and covers the DCI-P3 space quite well. With a dedicated Sport mode, this projector is suitable for watching sports. However, this projector produces above-average fan noise. One small weakness that pixel shifting projectors have in terms of design is the usually more noise they produce compared to the native 4K ones. This has to do with the fact that pixel shifters produce noise not only from their cooling systems and fans but also from their pixel shifting system which in some cases produce a slight buzzing. Sport Picture Mode renders realistic skin shades, warm wood tones, and vivid reds with balanced green and blue for stunning big-screen projection of fast-paced indoor sports action on wooden courts. And Sport Sound Mode accentuates the announcer's commentary and clear acoustic details of squeaking sneakers, referee whistles, and scraping skates in an indoor arena.

Also the TK800M is missing a Dynamic iris which could help improve things in this regard but models that use one are much more expensive than this one. Everything has a price and while this unit excels in other areas it’s price doesn’t allow it to perform better here and this was more or less to be expected. As such we didn’t have any problems during our gaming session, responses to our commands were very fast and at no point did we notice any delay in our actions. So if you are a casual gamer as we are and you like to use this projector for mixed use then rest assured that it will serve you very well in this regard.

In recognition of the TK800’s target market, BenQ has included game and football picture modes. The former is definitely useful, reducing the input lag and delivering a more responsive gaming experience. The latter is less successful, boosting the colours and the processing, resulting in an image that appears too artificial. Arabic/ Bulgarian/ Croatian/ Czech/ Danish/ Dutch/ English/ Finnish/ French/ German/ Greek/ Hindi/ Hungarian/ Italian/ Indonesian/ Japanese/ Korean/ Norwegian/ Polish/ Portuguese/ Romanian/ Russian/ Simplified Chinese/ Spanish/ Swedish/ Turkish/ Thai/ Traditional Chinese (28 Languages) It doesn't hurt that the projector is really bright, which means that even with SDR content it can deliver images that have genuine impact, even in less-than-ideal conditions. As such you can use the TK800 in a room with white walls or big windows, and still enjoy a huge projected image. The TK800 looks very similar to the W1700 we reviewed recently with the same chassis and a few tweaks to the colours used. It has a solid white plastic body that is well built and will stand up to being moved around and carried. It is strong enough to be your portable home entertainment device and the front panel has a nice aqua blue finish, which makes it stand out from the dull coloured home cinema devices which are designed to be hidden away in a dark room. This projector wants to be the centrepiece of your living room or party and be noticed. currency}} {{ n[1]| numberThousandsCommas | numberDecimalPoint }} {{currency}} {{ n[2]| numberThousandsCommas | numberDecimalPoint }} BuyPro 3) Full-featured Gaming Projectors: BenQ is one of a few brands that offer explicitly “gaming-focused” projectors. Compared to traditional projectors, these gaming projectors specialize in minimal input lag time, with ultra-low input latency and a high enough refresh rate to enjoy fast-paced gaming. BenQ stands out for selling a top-notched 4K projector for gaming that combines excellent picture quality with very low input lag. There isn’t any lens shift on the TK800M (to compensate for projector placement being off-center), so be sure your ceiling mount is properly aligned. If you need to angle the projector slight up (or down) at the screen the BenQ has keystone correction but, as with any projector, only use it as a last resort. It can add artifacts in to the image.

On portable projectors, battery life is an additional factor that may influence how long the item lasts. Most portable models use lithium-ion batteries rated for between 500 and 2,000 charge cycles. And while 3D seems to be a dying feature for TVs nowadays it has found a sanctuary in the projectors segment as there are many models that keep supporting it. And the TK800M continues this trend by not only supporting 3D content but also comes with improved functionality compared to the TK800. As such the TK800M can automatically select the correct timing as well as support 3D auto switching when the appropriate content is detected.

BenQ TK800 Features and Specs

represents the diagonal distance between the top right corner of your image (screen) and the bottom left corner of your image (screen). On BenQ claims that the TK800M’s lamp can last 4,000 hours in normal use which can extend to 8,000 hours in Smart Eco mode which lowers brightness and decreases fan noise. There is also an Economic mode that ups this number to 10,000 hours by automatically adjusting the lamp brightness while for those that want to hold onto a single lamp for as long as possible there is a LampSave mode that is rated to hold a whopping 15,000 hours but image quality is the worse from all the other modes available. the graphical representation of a projector in the middle of the calculator, you will see dimension lines that will tell you the Throw Distance The white segment in the color wheel is what gives this projector the necessary boost in brightness but obviously this comes at the expense of color accuracy but at this price range we shouldn’t expect more as it is in reality a trade-off of specs.

The Optoma UHD60 is similar in performance, but significantly different in price. Other projectors to ponder... The BenQ TK800M sports a playful aesthetic composed of a curved white chassis with a powder blue faceplate. The device is smaller than many typical projectors, plus it only weighs in at a little over nine pounds. This design makes the model easy to transport, whether if you are bringing it to a party or just setting it up in your patio or garage.

The TK800 uses a 4K 120Hz Red, Green, Blue and White (RGBW) four segment colour wheel with colour coatings to produce more light output and coverage of the Rec.709 HD colour standard. BenQ also claim it improves motion performance from the TK800 which should make it popular with sports fans. This would be awesome. I use this projector for watching movies and for gaming on my console. The BenQ have not disappointed me so far and I think they are the best in terms of projectors. It amazes me how much this technology advances. I’m waiting for the 8K model from BenQ.
