About this deal

This is a wireless shed and garage alarm that is battery powered. It requires 3 x AAA batteries and is therefore simple to set up and position. Be aware that this door alarm should only be used on the inside of buildings, not externally, as it doesn’t have any specific weatherproofing.

It doesn’t need to be armed all the time, but can be turned on simply by pressing the number four on the keypad. This makes it easy to turn on at night or whenever required. The advantage of this type of shed alarm is that it's a very specific trigger. A door or window is only likely to be opened by a person. So there's no chance of an animal, weather conditions, or other types of disruption setting them off. It is wireless and hence there is no hassle of cables, as a result of which it can be mounted anywhere on any wall. Generally speaking, the shed alarm should be over 100 dB . This will be loud enough to be heard from within the house in most scenarios. If the sensor and siren are part of the same unit a thief may have time to disable it or destroy it before it's actually had much time to go off.

This is a complete stand-alone motion battery operated sensor based alarm system for homes, offices, shops, caravans, van, garage or boats Along with the alarm come two identical remote controls, and this can come in very handy if you’ve got more than one person who wants to access the shed, or older children sharing the house who come home after you’ve gone to bed. All they have to do is press the disarm button to enter the shed or house without disturbing you too much.

Of course, this does mean that when you enter the shed you won’t be reminded that the alarm is armed either, so you need to remember to turn it off. However, at least this can be done easily with the included remote control. The main benefit of having an alarm with a code is that several people can have the ability to disarm the alarm. This means that different family members can know how to disarm and re-arm the alarm, without all needing separate keys. Some shed alarms are, I suppose, what you would think of as a more traditional alarm, and will make a loud noise to let you know that there’s a problem. Although these can be annoying for you and neighbours if you get a faulty one that triggers over nothing all the time, the noise can help to startle burglars and make them flee before they grab anything valuable. Although there are two modes, in general, these sensors work best when used on the mode that indicates if a door or window has been opened. This is because the separate ‘forced-entry detection’ mode can be very sensitive and prompt false alarms when it senses the slightest vibration (which can be quite common with the wind and rain beating against the shed door).

Shed alarm is an umbrella term used to describe devices that are designed to alert you to intruders in your shed, but there are quite a few variations. On the other hand, the 104 DB siren isn't as loud the Tiiwee's and everything is a fair bit more expensive. So I suppose it depends whether the extra features seem worth it to you. 3. Best Phone Enabled Shed Alarm: UltraPIR GSM Motion detectors, sometimes called Passive Infrared Sensors (or PIRs), detect the changes in infrared energy that occur when a warm body passes within range of the sensor. I mentioned motion sensors being triggered by animals in the section above this one, as I have been through the false alarms caused by them. At first, I thought it was because my alarm was too sensitive, so I bought a new one that had more control over the sensitivity and this helped to lower the number of times I jumped out of bed to defend my lawnmower. So if you want a motion detecting shed alarm but have pets that might get in a position to set an alarm off, definitely go for the Yale with the pet friendly sensors.Like a lot of alarms in this style, its main weakness is the strength of its construction. As a plastic alarm, intruders could deactivate it by smashing the unit. For this reason, ideally this shed and garage alarm somewhere high up (but this can make it more difficult to enter the code!). There are also alarms that will phone you or send you a text message (in addition to an audible siren) if they detect a break in! These are called GSM alarms. The alarm unit has a small solar panel attached to it which extends the battery life by around 18 months. Unfortunately the Tiiwee Kit doesn't offer "pet friendly" PIR sensors yet. In fact the Yale system was the only one I could fund that has them as an option... This multipurpose wireless alarm, with infrared PIR motion Detector technology is great for securing your homes, offices, sheds, caravans or garages. It is completely wireless and hence comes with its own mounting material.

Shed alarms have come a long way in recent years. Modern kits are wireless, battery powered, remote controlled and even modular. Most users place the sensor unit in their shed, garage or driveway. They keep the receiver unit indoors and set to chime to notify you that there is someone outside.
