I bought it as my “math watch”, whatever that means. I intended it to be the watch I wear when speccing out and designing my tiny-home builds, or even performing organic chemistry in my fantasy (for now) home laboratory. My mental addition and subtraction skills are excellent, and I’m fast at longhand, but with the Flightmaster on my wrist, I’m an unstoppable math whiz. I’ve only actually needed the slide rule a handful of times, but I can’t express how pleased I was to use it. The watch also has applied round markers that use Lumibrite for legibility in the dark. It is also water resistant and it can outstand around 200M of water, this wristwatch can even be useful during scuba diving and it looks amazing on any style. It can be used for casual events or business meetings. To achieve this, Seiko uses screw down on the watch’s crown and pushers. It does not really make any sense to give an aviation watch a 200 m water resistance rating but who cares right?Being a chronograph also made the dial busier. The 3 subdials definitely take lots of space at the center of the dial until there is no free space at all.

The dial on this wristwatch is intense. The combination of reflective and raised surfaces, a moving cluster of the watch’s sub-dials and the slightly-domed crystal make the dial great and interesting to look at. The wristwatch is also shinier and more sparkly than its pictures would suggest, making it the best choice for formal and for business wear. The Seiko SNA411 is on the bigger side of things. The face is 42mm, but if you include the crown you’ll land on 46mm in total. The height is on the smaller side though, with a total of 13mm. The smaller height is a nice combination with the larger diameter of the watch. It was invented in 17th century and comprises two logarithmic scales. One of these scales can be moved or slide – hence the name slide rule. It is used for various calculations such as:

It also uses its bidirectional rotating bezel as the sliding rule (some watches has a rotating inner bezel at the outer edge of the dial – like the Seiko SARB017 Alpinist).

Now, the flight alarm is a 12-hour alarm that goes off with a beep (much like what you’d expect from a digital watch). There’s no vibration or snooze function like your smartphone, and the alarm is silenced with a push of a button.
