I wondered if a seven-year-old was capable of some of the acts committed. Could a child be that diabolical and manipulative? I think this is one of those books that if you look at it closely, yes you will probably see a lot of things that push the believability envelope…right off the table. However, it ended up not mattering if things were all possible or believable…. I was pulled right into the story. Ultimately *Spoiler Alert* we never get an answer — to the question of Suzette’s culpability, at least. Hanna, the 7-year-old at the center of this novel should, be all accounts, be a wonderful, well-adjusted child. This novel kept dragging on to the point where I was beyond bored. I was waiting for something awesome, anything entertaining to happen, and nothing. As I said before, I loved this novel’s cover but I felt even that was a bit misleading. There was literally nothing to do about baby teeth even though it implies that it’s some kind of horror novel. Common now. "Baby Teeth" is not a horror novel as it’s more of a psychological thriller if anything. There are some bits and pieces that make it a bit creepy and disturbing but nothing to the levels you’d expect in a true horror novel. David Ehrlich of IndieWire gave the film "B+", calling it "a movie that's off-kilter but always raw; delicate, but never precious". I read this book in February and it has stayed with me over the last six months and as much as I read that absolutely says something! It’s one of those novels that you’re there reading and waiting for something to happen and nothing happens. Suzette, Hanna’s mother, loves her daughter – as well as she can. She didn’t grow up with a loving mother so struggles with the parenting role. But she finds Hanna exhausting. When her husband Alex isn’t around Hanna speaks to Suzette. As Hanna becomes more and more aggressive toward her mother while her father continues to see her as his little angel, Suzette suspects there is something seriously wrong with their daughter. Can her little girl really be so manipulative? A while later, Anna wakes up at night and discovers Moses in the process of robbing the family for prescription drugs. Milla and Henry wake up and are alerted to the situation, but while Henry wants to call the police Milla pleads for leniency, which Anna allows, noticing how much happier Milla is with Moses. It involved a family similar to BABY TEETH's, but the theme was quite different: it was about a woman who was becoming overwhelmed by what she perceived to be the horrors of domesticity. As an intended film, it was geared more toward mood (cool, detached) and a cinematic look.

You will hate it if you don't like the insane child trope. So I recommend it to readers who love thrillers where the main character is a scary child. The tale alternates between Hanna and Suzette’s perspectives allowing the reader insight. I felt both were unreliable narratives, and I desperately wanted to answer the question, “Is this nature or nurture?” Hanna talks about the masks mommy wears. Good mommy, who cuts her bananas just right and, bad mommy, who hates her.I believe I’m going to bust out my complement sandwich for this review... as a refresher a complement sandwich is good/bad/good.... so in short the bad is sandwiched in between the good..... I also want to make it very clear that I read this with a group and I was in the true minority on this.... so the opinions in this review are absolutely my own and my review should be read with the understanding that this book is unquestionably not for everybody....
