About this deal

Es un "retelling" del mito de Hades y Persefone, y debo decir que se manejo muy bien desde la semilla de granada hasta el por qué de la existencia de Caronte y el río Estigio. Arlo hated Faenir as much as any captive would his captor, which I expect (and love) to see, but then he instantly forgives and starts to love him after hearing his tragic life story. From the bestselling author Ben Alderson comes a fantastical and spicy reimagining of the Hades and Persephone tale. To uphold the promise he made to his parents, ensuring the protection of his sister from the world and its dangers.

But no, he dies of the unnamed rotting disease he has (this disease is never named throughout the entire novel, its simply "the disease my parents had" and the only symptoms ever listed are coughing up blood. So let me get this right: Arlo hates Faenirs gut for the most portion of this book, gets his sad backstory told and instantly - just a few pages later - they fuck and Arlo is smitten. Just like how Arlo turning into a vampire was an easy out for him not being immortal, or semi-immortal. The author did an amazing job in keeping interest throughout and creating an emotional understanding and bond for the characters in it. What I don't get is this: Faenir watches out and tries not to get too close to the staff because he don't want to kill them accidentally.Yes, but it just worked, and I have to say, in comparison to the previous book, that the author improved his writing in this matter.

Alderson jednak nie lubi siedzieć w miejscu, w swej kontynuacji postanowił zmienić wszystko: od chemii między bohaterami, poprzez słowa, których używa, i tylko uniwersum zdołało się zachować.

This book was a full sit down meal, learning the characters and the roles they played, leading into the main story, the tension between the main characters that brings us to the promised spice, the jaw dropping "big boss final battle", and what I can only describe as the queer fantasy book version of a Marvel Studios post credit scene has me salivating for what Ben has coming for the Darkmourn universe sooo much! The book begins with a warning that it is self-edited and self-published, and therefore may have typos. because becoming the Death Magic King of Fairyland takes a lot of politicking, and manipulating all the other people in line for the throne, and trying to figure out if being super, extra magic makes you remotely qualified to run a government!

The main characters jumped super quickly from hatred to adoration (in an unbelievable way) and the plot lost me around the halfway mark. You wouldn't want to walk out without any clothes on and looking like well, looking like you did what you just did. Speaking of sex and the whole hype surrounding this book for the spice that it contains, the sex scenes (and there are a lot of them) are done horribly. For his entire life Faenir has never been able to touch anyone or anything without killing them, but Arlo doesn’t die. Vampires are introduced in the beginning of the story but don't make a reappearance until the epilogue chapter.

when Arlo wasn’t being the worst SO ever) Faenir truly deserved better and is just the best character in this entire book. So many questions I had were left unanswered or things just didn’t make sense plot wise for the political aspects here.

Not to mention that out of all the times they do hook up, there isn't a single instance where they practice safe sex. And because he never touched anyone else, he is a virgin (which I actually liked as a plot point) but after the first time couple of times he turned into a beast in the sheets (which I didn't like anymore). Faenir, the most revered of the elves, is known for one thing: one touch against anyones skin, and they will be unalived.Like it had good parts, but like all of the sudden it like "AHH I LOVE YOU" like bro you just spent like 50 pages ranting about how much you hated everything about him and what he stood for and for like good reason!
