About this deal

After going vegetarian a couple years ago I really had a hard time finding broth that my family would enjoy. We recommend that you do not rely solely on the information presented here and that you always read labels, warnings, and directions before using or consuming a product. It had a more prominent real chicken flavor, but the green-yellow hue (from added turmeric) is a little off-putting. Unlike bouillon cubes and powder, which are made from primarily from salt (lots of it), sugar, and hydrolyzed protein, BTB vegetable base is made from, well, vegetables.

For example they mention it's not too salty, it' s amazing stuff and that it''s wonderful for risotto.I couldn't get through Christmas and the holiday season without this product but I just wish it wasn't so expensive! Over the last six months, l have changed my diet from meat to plant base diet and this was recommended by a friend.

That’s when I’ll reach for this Better Than Bouillon Organic Roasted Chicken Base that’s a product I always have in my fridge.I use about a rounded teaspoon (it's very thick, so a rounded teaspoon is easy to do) for 2 cups of water, as I don't like my broth too watery.

Not a significant source of saturated fat, trans fat, cholesterol, dietary fiber, vitamin d, iron, potassium, calcium. I love all the flavors that I've tried so far and even have a cup of hot chicken broth by itself once in a while. My only tip is watch the salt- it is NOT low sodium, so adjust the additional salt in the recipe as needed. Third-generation cheesemonger, Adam Moskowitz, joins Epicurious for the ultimate grilled cheese challenge. It should be very salty or if you are on a low sodium diet, don’t add it now and do so when you use it at a later time. In all candor, when she first introduced it to me, I had my doubts, thinking that it was simply a bouillon cube in another, less convenient form. I like salt, so I added salt before I froze it but not so much that it was too salty even to taste it a little bit. Really love that a jar lasts so long and allows you to portion out as much or as little as you need for a recipe.

YVRMike, I don't know if Costco in Canada will have it, but Better Than Bouillon products are pretty widely available on the web. I like that it's organic and thus has no artificial flavorings or preservatives, and it has less salt. Carrot, celery, and onion juice concentrates make up part of the ingredients, and overshadow the taste of chicken. If I do not have bone broth that I have made myself I will use Better than Bouillon as it is the closest alternative.

Value for money, very difficult to answer- it comes down to personal choice - but I do wish it was less expensive. Also used in pies and gravy, absolutely delicious and goes down well with friends and family of all diets. From gruyère to ricotta–which sandwich has the best cheese pull, and which should be left outside of the frying pan? Day One: 2 celery stalks, 1 onion and 2 carrots will be used, Day Two: 2 celery stalks, 1 onion, 2 carrots all clean and cut into pieces. I love the McCormick's chicken base and have been using it regularly, especially in my Mexican dishes.
