About this deal
For this look, I used a matte bronzer lightly to give some definition to my face and then added Own You Light highlighter on the cheek- the apples and the highpoints.
I think the strengths are the absolutely gorgeous packaging (reels me in every time), and the wide variety of shades. It has a lot of very small shimmer that gives it that lovely skin like sheen and it also has a few bigger shimmer which can be seen up close and looks like a gold or even multicolored. If you're a highlighter lover, you've probably heard of Becca Shimmering Skin Perfectors or you may own them. I have tried applying this highlighter with a few different brushes and I find I am best off using a very soft fluffy brush rather than my normal denser brush, as if it applied to heavily it can look a little shiny.
It also catches the light and gives off lovely shine, while Mary-Lou is really intense and looks almost a bit metallic.
I wasn't sure which shade to choose, but decided that Moonstone was the most obvious choice for my fair skin tone and I was right. It’s similar in finish to Moonstone but the icy white hue makes it less wearable for warmer skin tones. Applied normally in a light single layer, the RMS highlighter provides a completely transparent, clear, balm-like dewiness. In terms of application the highlight can be pretty intense but the formula is soft and easy to layer and blend.
I tried Opal and it didn't give me the "lit from within" look I want - it looked like a suntan oil bronzey aging slick slapped me in the face - pretty. I’ve used up entire pans of Opal and Champagne Pop which is huge for me since I own so many highlighters I rarely ever hit pan.
