About this deal

I will be purchasing again and am grateful to have found a cruelty free and economical laundry detergent. Whether a detergent is 'eco-friendly' comes down to many factors, from the way it's made to how it's disposed of, and everything in between. No matter what laundry sheets you opt for, rest assured the natural ingredients and plastic-free packaging are, in our opinion, enough of a motivation to swap out our good old supermarket favourites. They dissolved effectively and over 80% of stains disappeared from our cotton pile, including coffee, foundation and baby food. If a item is particularly heavily soiled I rinse it under the tap and rub a bit of washing up liquid in but I would do this with my previous detergents too.

Manufacturers don’t need to aim for accuracy on the ingredients front, which places us consumers at a disadvantage. Our eco-conscious dish soap and dishwasher detergents use plant-powered ingredients – derived from renewable sources like coconuts – for a safer clean. Essentially our sheets are just condensed laundry detergent liquid, but we have a strict no-nasties policy, so all our ingredients are sourced with you and the planet in mind. When my skin started itching every time I put on clean clothes, I could not figure out what was going on. For comparison, most of the others we’ve tried came in batches of 32 of 64, so we’d say Reco’s sheets are worth the extra cost.It is owned by Proctor and Gamble, a large corporation that openly tests on animals and manufactures oleochemicals. I currently cannot recommend any other supermarkets because their ingredient lists are not disclosed. I’ve been using this for several years from Costco and when they run out I use the Costco version of the natural detergent they carry. I soon discovered the ECOS Laundry Detergent, so I tried it so I can see for myself if it’s really as eco-friendly as other reviews make it out to be.

I don't mind this, and it could be boosted with fabric softener (although laundry doesn't actually need it - comes out of the wash quite soft). They claim that the formula is regularly reviewed by chemists and is pH balanced so it won’t do any major damage to mother Earth. However, not all powder products are the same and many brands that produce liquid detergent have found various ways of reducing their environmental impact, like through refill schemes. It helps to dissolve the other ingredients and facilitates the even distribution of these ingredients when the sheet dissolves in the laundry water. While ECOS Laundry Detergent left my bath towels feeling a little stiff, it did do an excellent job at removing my self-inflicted coffee stains. Our only niggles involved the limited user guidance – we weren’t sure whether to dispense it into the drum or drawer – and the fact that the bottle doesn’t come with a handle and is therefore slightly tricky to grip.
