Platt is Platt, he's the goofy one of the bunch but so too is he quite smart while Kevin Bacon and William Baldwin play slightly more generic characters, though they too do fine with the material given them. Stylishly photographed by Jan de Bont (Basic Instinct) and featuring a cast of Hollywood's hottest talent - including Kiefer Sutherland (Twin Peaks: Fire Walk with Me), Julia Roberts (Secret in their Eyes) and Kevin Bacon (Wild Things) - Flatliners is the ultimate life-and-death thrill ride. Atonement – Composer James Newton Howard and orchestrator Chris Boardman give us some input on their collaboration as well as the music heard in the movie. Schumacher frequently falls into the trap of not being able to deliver a decent ending to his movies – and indeed cheats here by dismissing potentially devastating medical side effects with a joke – but the ride he offers along the way is more satisfying than not, and this is one of his more rewarding efforts.Dialogue exchanges are clear and discernible, and low end moments are frequent, although not altogether powerful. With the future star-studded cast, the classic 90s film tone bleeds through and director Joel Schumacher was able to leave his mark with what is now a cult classic. Arrow is using an all-new 4K restoration performed by Sony Pictures Home Entertainment that was sourced from the 35mm original camera negative. Nelson is repeatedly assaulted by a young boy in a red hood, David (Bacon) sees visions of a young girl that he bullied as a child, Rachel (Roberts) sees her dead father who committed suicide, and Joe (Baldwin) is haunted by women that he secretly videotaped while having sex with them.

Surprisingly enough, it works, and after Nelson proves that it can be done, the other four start wondering if they shouldn't take the trip themselves.Billy Baldwin the stereotypical womaniser who thinks he can seduce every woman he meets while keeping his fiancé across the country in the dark, and Kevin Bacon who is the stand out in the ensemble as he not only is the key to bringing people back but he's quick to realise the deadly force they've all unleashed. Despite its success at the time of release Flatliners has oddly never received anything remotely close to a “special edition” on DVD or Blu-ray, with Arrow not stepping in to fill the gap.
