About this deal

I'm having a really hard time describing this, even in my head. It's an isekai story, though only barely. We learn early that the protagonist is from our world, but few details beyond that he's familiar with Xianxia stories and feels like he is in one. Which allows him to hang a giant nope sign on the future he's currently on and find somewhere to live quietly on his own farm. The original Jin Rou was an orphan and street urchin from Crimson Crucible City. At the age of 12, he was taken in by a vagrant old man living in the slums, named Shen Yu, who taught him how to write, as well as the mystical art of cultivation. At some indeterminate point in time, his master and adoptive grandfather abandoned him, not before telling him to seek out the Cloudy Sword Sect. The Connected One toiled every day, healing its wounds, and disregarding the connection. He gave and gave. He did not force the plants to grow beyond their abilities. He expected nothing, beyond their nourishment later.

The man eventually let out a whistle as they stared at the Stone Gate. “You know, for a second there, I thought we’d never make it here.” The young man rubbed at his arm, grimacing.

WOW" you might say "Good thing it doesn't get any more complicated than that". Well, I wish you hadn't said that because now it does thanks to your hasty words. Thus, they had climbed the side of the mountains, been hounded ferociously by corporeal illusions, and Bi De was pushed to the limit by an Old Monster. When he finally reached the sect, he was labelled as a mediocre talent, and was relegated to performing petty tasks around the sect, like watering spiritual herbs. Yun Ren nodded politely and took the tea from her as Gou Ren spoke with Bowu, the younger man looking with interest at the deer meat. A slow, simple, fulfilling life in a place where nothing exciting or out of the ordinary ever happens...right?

The only gripe I've seen is about grammar. The comments section is full of readers pointing things out, and the author fixing them. By the time I get a chance to read, almost all the mistakes are already gone. Shattered, broken fragments pulled together. Forging themselves anew. A tiny spark. A bare portion of what it was. But it was here. Weakness is something to be shed. And a lower realm will never have something to offer a higher one. Xianghua’s face went blank as she contemplated the words. “I think noodle shops are cursed.” She said after a moment of more consideration.Ah, that picture will be a good one! So cute and determined!” The woman smiled fondly, looking over Shen Yu’s shoulder to get a better view of the recording he’d taken. Meimei, at least, had been happy about that. I glanced up from my sawing to look at my wife, who was standing in front of the house at the ready, her arms raised. She had a big grin on her face, her purple eyes flashing as she prepared herself. In this, they leave the place of their birth behind. Never to return, for there is nothing to offer from them. While he works on the farm by planting rice and building himself a small house, he meets the locals in the nearby town as well as people and animals coming out of the nearby forest. He wants a quiet life, but things don't go quite that way. Wouldn't such a Frankensteinian monster of so many disparate parts be a shambling ungainly mess? You would think so, But strangely this thing works and feels like a single organic whole.

Hell yeah! Do you know how great it is to be able to eat meat and not get the shits?” She demanded. It’ll be a short lesson,” Yun Ren snarked. His brother reached over and punched him in the shoulder, Yun Ren laughing it off. But it did not trust it. It felt.. Like some of the others. The ones that hurt. It carefully examined the power, and consumed it. They worked as one. Toiling, and aiding each other. Growing, and healing together. It consumed so much of the Connected One's attention. I borrowed this on a recommendation from a book group I was in and I’m so glad I did! There were SO many things I loved about it!!!Well… that was kind of easy, wasn’t it?” Yun Ren asked his brother as they stared at the corpse of the deer.
