Despite a global pandemic and the incredible hardships faced by most in the hospitality industry, the Greater Mancunian McAvoy brothers have gone from strength to strength since launching - and have more than held their own over the past 18 months. They had a special copper still made for them in Portugal - which they have christened Frederica - a combination of their mum and dad’s names.
BusinessLive spoke to Keith and Kit - the second oldest and youngest brother respectively - to find out. But the main part of the expansion plans will see Seven Bro7hers looking to secure new location to build a new base by 2026. Before we decided to enter into business together, it took us a while to find our way in terms of roles and responsibilities within the business, but we got there eventually. McAvoy brothers Guy, 56, Keith, 49, Luke, 44, Daniel, 43, Nathan, 41, Kit, 36 and Greg, 34, started their brewery in 2014 - inspired by their dad’s home-brewing efforts in their cellar over the years.Access to Finance has helped us get where we are today much more quickly than we could have done alone, and gave us the foundation we needed to successfully find funding. Coming from a big family, our owners (who are actually seven brothers) have instilled an ethos of hard work, fairness and adventure into all areas of the business. The venue, named ‘11 Central’ after the families' seven brothers and four sisters, offers visitors a mix of drink, food, live music, bar games and gin making classes, with waterside views from its 2,000-square-foot terrace. That success has been thanks to the brothers’ three-pronged strategy: the bars - of which there are now four, the brewery where beers are sold to trade and direct to consumers across the UK, and exports.

Then as co-founder and head brewer, he launched the high profile Cloudwater, before constructing brewhouses for the likes of Verdant, Deya, and Bundobust. The area around it has developed beyond recognition and it was good in the winter so I imagine it would be even better in the summer. James has over two decades of experience in the industry, beginning his journey in Manchester with pioneers of the scene Marble, where he was head brewer for eight years.
Starting out in 2014, this month marks their seventh year in business - and to celebrate, each brother has developed their own specially formulated craft beer with an ABV of - you guessed it - 7%. We collaborate with companies such as Kellogg’s who share our values of bringing people together by creating good quality, flavoursome products for you to enjoy. The brewery will also be launching its partnership bar in Manchester Airport’s new terminal two when it reopens as part of a lucrative 10-year deal. The beer business has grown so much over the past four years that four of the brothers now work full time at the brewery.As I got older, myself and Greg, the two youngest brothers, took a bit of an interest in dad's homebrew. For our parents it was just a way of life, there was never ever any sense of ‘we’ve got this many children we will live off the government’ it was never ever their consideration, my mum never claimed any free school meals or anything like that, it was all about working hard and making ends meet it was those values we were all brought up on. At the start of January, bosses said they could "no longer make it work" after their landlord increased rent by 35 per cent, with rising costs making it "impossible" to continue. The announcement came just a matter of weeks after Simon Rimmer's much-loved vegetarian restaurant, Greens, closed its doors after 33 years. This was a fantastic introduction to some cheeses I would not have thought to try and some beers I had not even heard of.
