The long connection between the Royal Navy and rum can be traced back to 1655 and Vice-Admiral William Penn's expedition to the West Indies. Created in 1962 in Podensac, a small village south of Bordeaux, by Maison Lillet using methods passed down since the 19th century. The company have produced a range of different aromatised wines over the year, many of which have since disappeared, such as the famed Kina Lillet used to make James Bond's Vesper Martini. The palate shows a powerful bouquet of fresh orange, ripe berries, vanilla and delicate spices with a robust structure. The addition of Merlot adds both the rich, ruby colour and a more tannic texture, giving this refreshing formula even more depth and intrigue.

The General Wine Company sources wines from all over the world, but with a particular focus on small, independent producers.
