About this deal

Surprisingly, the Deox-C actually seems to soften it up to the extent that a scotchbright pad will take it off without much work. I also managed to snap 4 tiny little brass screw head bolts off in equally small brass threaded inserts on the heaters cage. The long-term performance of Hydrate 80 has been proven to significantly increase coating life in independent tests conducted by the German TÜV organisation under conditions of VDA 621-415 (6 cycles, or 1008 hrs) which included exposure to hot salt-spray, 100% relative humidity and drying atmospheres with each cycle lasting 168 hours. It spiked to 4ppm for a little bit when I put out the stove , but it dropped back to 0 sometime within the next 25 minutes. Importantly for long-term protection Bilt Hamber Hydrate 80 doesn’t contain chlorine which is known to transform into corrosive hydrochloric acid in rust converter applications causing under-film blistering and destruction of paint finishes or other coating products.

Oh, BTW, before anyone has a panic attack about me running what is in essence a camping stove inside the house. This rust killer forms an effective barrier against water and air, preventing the formation of rust on home appliances and other metallic objects. If I ever get my project near completion I will be using epoxy primer as I have read so many positive endorsements of it. There's still a few bits to do, but it at least LOOKS significantly better than it did, and it isn't sweating paraffin out of multiple rust bubbles anymore. The electrochemical function stabilizes existing corrosion by converting the iron oxides into a protective metal complex. As Hydrate-80 will activate on clean steel the affected area should be cleaned beyond the visibly corroded surface, this will ensure complete treatment.

Hydrate-80 has been used to arrest and prevent corrosion in diverse applications – from massive marine installations to classic and historic vehicle restoration Hydrate-80 provides dependable long-term protection. When it says it can go over rust, are we talking clean metal, with light pitting which may hold rust, or rubbed down, but visibly rusty metal? With the recommended 2 costs you end up with a relatively thick coating - brush marks may be evident. The blue'ish fluid was applied, and then i left it on over night to fully get to work on the remaining rust, by the next day it was a nice even dark color ,before using some fiberglass, to finish it off application of under sealer to make it fully water tight .Spray application should be made by first applying light mist coat which is left to tack dry (5-10mins) then apply full coat not to excess. It's just a punched piece of sheet steel, and the important features are an angled ladder of little oblong holes to work as a rack, 4 slots to hold the wick clips, a joggled lip for the seam to be spot welded, a tiny strengthening bead rolled onto the bottom end, and a 3ish mm bell mouth rolled into the other.

Paints and coatings applied to a hydrate 80 treated surface demonstrate amazing improvements in long-term performance. It's a cute little baby "Valor Minor 64" boiling stove, and apart from the dusting of surface rust on the chimney, it's in a really nice usable condition. All the enamel is either off already, or it's in the process of coming off, so that shouldn't be a factor in paint adhesion. As for photos, the things in kit form at the minute, with some bit's in the garage, some swimming in a bucket of Deox C sat in the bath (Don't ask), and one bit's still waiting to take it's turn in the bucket, so it's not really "Photo shoot ready". It's pretty expensive though, so I have been using the Electrox over the welded/derusted patches and cheaper stuff like 182 over the other bits. Then contact your credit card company, it may take some time before your refund is officially posted. The concern is first seen as a blistering of the coating followed by the rapid breakthrough of rust.
