I seem to have run across this problem before, that a book isn't too sure if it's a memoir or a how-to.

Here she shares what she has learned during her busy and eclectic life, what she still worries about, and what advice she has received along the way. She has honorary doctorates from UEA and the University of Essex but lives in London where her proudest achievement was hosting a sleepover in the bed department of Peter Jones. Really enjoyed this sensible yet very warm and comforting read, it felt like a whirlwind stop of all the easy, great life advice you would ever need in one handy guide. A friend gifted me this book and I loved it so much that I bought 7 copies for my other girlfriends.

She has since grown it into an award-winning global brand known for it’s craftsmanship, creativity and sense of humour, including the hugely successful ‘I’m Not a Plastic Bag’ campaign. Something I would like to take forward for work/projects etc is approach each morning as if it's your first day. I love that she doesn’t speak so highly of herself, she’s so humble (I really want to meet her in real life! And also that I constantly worry how I don't mess up at parenting because I not only realise how important a role of a parent is + how the kind of relationship you build with them growing up is going to determine the kind of relationship they have with you when you are old.

If it's fun and something you enjoy but doesn't have a market (won't bring in money) then it's a hobby not a business. Anya shares about her journey as a businesswoman in fashion, most notably for the “I’m not a plastic bag” campaign, her life experiences and juggling life as a working mother (as do many successful career women). Then suddenly the book seemed to swerve - from general observations and thinking, into a business book, which I wasn't expecting.I feel that Anya has not only given out very valuable lessons and tips and tricks when it comes to being a parent who's also working but in general as well. Then the tap turned off, making Occasionwear and being so tied to events you can image our target market was pulled from under our feet. It felt like her book was written for me, she covers all topics from running a business to having a family, and how she balances it all (with help!
